Transportation is defined as the act of transporting, the act of being transported, or the means by which one is transported. There are four different types of travel, and within these four types, there are various modes of transport. The four types of travel are; space, air, water, and land.
Transportation in space is achieved by the use of spacecraft. When being transported through space, one’s craft is being propelled by the use of rocket engines. The engines provide massive thrust upon the spacecraft by expelling propellant thus moving it forward at a great speed. Transportation in space is limited, due to the largely unexplored areas of our galaxies, and the cautiousness of transporting people through unknown areas.
Transportation through the air can be achieved by many different modes. These include helicopters, hot air balloons, jets, small planes, twin engine planes, and even hang-gliders. Air transport, especially by plane, has become one of the most common forms of transportation. Knowing what to say and do when you are ready to fly, will help make your trip go much more smoothly, and allow you to reach your destination without too much trouble. Helicopters are used by a number of different businesses to transport people from one place to another. Certain tour companies make use of helicopters to take their clients on sightseeing trips that can only be viewed from the air, or that are inaccessible by automobile. Another use for helicopters is by paramedics who need to transport an accident victim quickly to a medical facility and not be slowed down by land travel. One other main entity that uses helicopters as a mode of transportation on occasion is the police department. They frequently use them to be able to track and follow suspects who are getting away either on foot, or by automobile.
Transportation on or through water is achieved in two main ways; by boat, or by submarine. Boats, from the largest ships, to the smallest canoes, have been a mode of transportation for thousands of years.  Ships are used nowadays for cruises, and transporting goods and materials internationally. Smaller boats are used primarily for pleasure outings, water skiing, fishing, and lake trips. Boats are also used by the Coast Guard and Navy for the means of protecting our waterways from criminals and human and drug traffickers. Submarines are primarily used by the military for patrolling and protecting the oceans and seas from threats of danger.
Land transportation is achieved by means of; cars, trucks, RV’s, walking, bicycling, running, vans, buses, trains, and subways. More people use forms of land transportation than any other. There is a form of transport readily available at any time, for any need. With one phone call, you can have a driver at your door within minutes to pick you up and deliver you where you need to go. City buses have routes than span hundreds of miles, and are available at a nominal fee. And we always have our own two feet as the most accessible and easiest to use mode of transportation.
