Music

For those of you that know me, you know that beyond fashion design, beyond writing, beyond the women’s support group, music is my life. I love music like nothing else. I do not watch television. I listen to music. My favorite kind of music is a mix of house: soulful, beach, and funky house, progressive trance, music with electronic roots, vocal trance, and ambient. This music drives me and keeps my mood always positive. This can be music to drive to, music to go to sleep to, music to just sit and enjoy, and most of the time, its music you hear in swanky, posh lounges and nightclubs.

Nightclubs are another love of mine that I will not get into just yet. I first started listening to electronic music when I was growing up. I always liked the dance music and I never really cared much for slow love songs. I guess it was my fate to be a lonesome clubbing kind of girl…over the years, though, I have found tons of free music sites. I remember back in the day when napster got oh so busted for copyright infringement, everyone was scared to death to download free music. Not only because of my relationships with dj’s but just from hunting around on the internet for hours, I have found lots of music downloads and music videos  on free music sites. This music is not main stream. This is fresh new beats and tracks from the artists themselves trying to promote their music and music videos online. You will not find music you listen to on the radio on these free music sites. If there are, just be careful. A lot of these music downloads and music videos can carry adware or spyware like an STD and totally infect your computer. Trust me, I have had to learn the hard way.

After losing two laptops to so called free music and other music downloads, I know that it can happen. Anyway, music is my soul. I have actually written lots of lyrics and I used to play around with dj’ing at some bars and clubs where I knew the owners. I know that if I were to pursue it, my love of music would take over, and I would be good. For now though, I’m satisfied with just listening to great music. Another love of mine is dancing, which ties back into the night club thing. Gogo dancing, I have found, is my favorite because you get to dress up and dance all night by yourself (which is what I want to do anyway) and you do not have to be bothered by drunken idiot guys coming up to you. You get attention, and get to be literally put on a pedestal and you can just do whatever you want. When I need to get some new moves, I look at music videos. A lot of the time, I look up the more mainstream songs I love to see if they have music videos and get dance moves from there.
