Movies and TV programs are more mainstream than ever before.  Gone are the days of having to drive a car to a theater just to purchase a ticket and an overpriced bag of popcorn.  Today we are able to enjoy the most popular movies, prime time TV programming, and all the hits of the past and present right from our living room television.  Sometimes escaping into a world of fantasy, wonder, and intrigue is much more enjoyable when movies and TV can be enjoyed barefoot or entirely naked on the couch in the comfort of a person's home.

The technological advancements made in the entertainment industry have brought movies and TV into the limelight.  When these forms of entertainment were first being produced, a person had to keep their eyes peeled and stay in their seats for fear of missing a plot development point.  Now, we just have to rewind our programming to catch what we missed, or pause our programming before we miss something important.  Device are even available that allow us to pause, rewind, and fast foward movies and TV programs while they are being broadcast.
Technological advances are also to thank for making a trip to the movie theater a thing of the past.  As televisions get bigger while taking up less space they are also beginning to incorporate movie playing technology like DVD or Blue-Ray players right into the main unit.  Some cable companies even allow subscribers to rent or buy movies right from an on screen display and stores the movies for regular viewing on some kind of hard drive.

For folks who want the feeling of popping the movie into the player, or if a cable service just doesn't offer a movie or television show a subscriber wants to watch, third party subscription services exist that allow users to be delivered a certain number of DVDs a month and return them via regular mail when they are done.  This works for traditional movies, entire or partial television series seasons, and even video games.  As if bringing the movie theater into the home wasn't enough, companies have figured out a way to bring in the entire video store right to a person's front steps.
The last service offered that gives the world access to the best movies and TV around is DVD sharing.  This is a process in which one movie lover connects with other movie lovers to trade DVDs on a temporary or permanent basis.  DVDs can be traded for other DVDs and returned to the original owner when they have been viewed.  This service is often the most economical because many services that offer this type of movie exchange program are free or very low cost.
Whether a person is looking for popular movies, obscure foreign films, primetime TV, or just regular broadcast television, there is a program out there that can cater to these needs.  Prices and exact services may vary, but at least the average viewer never has to worry about missing another show or movie again.
