With the wonderful world of education comes numerous controversies concerning academics, administration, teachers, parents, students, and much more.  All schools are constantly faced with issues that involve important decisions to be made in the best interest of the people affected.

Education  issues take place in all types of schools and can be as simple as parents not liking the way a teacher chooses to instruct students in their classroom, or as serious as changes in disciplinary methods for entire districts.  Administrators seek to keep the safety and happiness of all students and educators at a place of utmost importance.

Concerning education today, there are numerous issues being discussed now to try to better the educational environment as a whole.  There is considerable controversy over whether it is better to conduct year-around public school or traditional nine months of schooling with a summer recess.  These decisions are exceedingly tough to make due to the amount of pros and cons for each situation.  Bullying in schools has also been the source of heated discussion due to its often devastating effects for students on a physical, emotional, and psychological level.  Bullying can greatly affect the lives and educational progress of students of all ages, and administrators continue to strive to make schools as secure and accepting as possible.  In the high school setting, there are issues related to scholarships for students.  For example, in Arizona there is discussion over whether or not the AIMS scholarship which rewards students in excellence from standardized testing will continue to exist due to problems with school funding.

School funding is a very serious issue at hand in today’s society.  Many schools from elementary to high school settings are faced with numerous challenges concerning funding for school equipment, technology, books, and other resources that are imperative for a successful educational environment.  Sadly, many schools are unable to provide computers, books, materials, recreational equipment, and other products that can enhance a child’s education and allow them to progress in ways that will benefit them for the rest of their life.

There are several issues in education today that can possibly reduce students’ academic performance.  One of these problems that has sparked extreme controversy is whether or not special needs students should be mainstreamed into general education classrooms.  Some people feel that it would greatly disrupt the learning environment of general education students while others say that it is necessary for special education students to experience life in a general education room.

Whether or not an educational issue seems to be substantial or not, it is crucial to discuss the issues in order to create the most superlative learning environment available for all students and enhance relationships between educators and students.  Educational issues will continue to be present in elementary to high school settings, but if a school’s educational purpose continues to be to enhance the education of students to the best of their ability, then educational institutions will continue to be knowledgeable, secure environments for all children.
