There are many different types of internet connection. Some of them are quite expensive and hard to come by, while others are much more readily accessible and easier to afford. The type of internet connection you get will have a lot to do with your location, and how much money you are willing to put out for services. The speed of satellite connection is slightly slower than the broadband types of connections, and this is due to the enormous distance that the data has to be transmitted from.
     Cable internet connection is achieved with the use of TV channels for its data transmission. The actual connection is provided by the cable TV lines, and allows for fast internet service. The cable connection uses the coaxial line, which supports a much higher bandwidth than the telephone line connections do. Like many other forms of internet connection, the cable connection requires the use of a cable modem.
     Analog, which is a dial-up connection, is an extremely slow but very chap form of internet connection. The dial-up connection requires the use of a modem, phone line and an ISP. If subscribed to analogue, the customer is assigned a phone number specific to their ISP. The customer them uses this number to dial in, and be connected t the internet. Analogue is a poor provider of internet quality, and because of the time required to wait for connection, the customer if frequently “bumped off” connection and must try again.
     Some other known types of internet connection are, internet2, and optical cable. Internet 2 provides the fastest internet connection possible. It has the massive speed of 100Gpbs, and was developed as an answer to the demand for faster internet to accomplish research and education projects. Internet2 is very expensive, and is not widely used. Optical cable is also known as the fiber-optic connection. There are three types of fiber optic cable, these are; single mode, multi-mode, and plastic optical fiber. The optical cable has the highest data rates of any internet connection, excluding internet2, and is very easy to use and maintain. Fiber optic internet is the most common connection source used. It has high quality, and is easy to navigate.
