Computer troubleshooting is the process which one will go through when there is a problem with some part of their computer.  This can be that the computer won’t turn on or that once the computer is on, it simply won’t perform a function that you need to use.  It never seems to fail that you will be in a hurry when you have a problem.  This doesn’t help the situation at all.  However, you may actually be able to fix the problem relatively quickly if you can be patient.  Typically, if you are having trouble with a program on your computer or if some function is not responding as you might expect, turning the computer off and back on again a few minutes later can often solve your problem.  This process is referred to as re-booting.
Once you have re-booted your computer, hopefully, you will be back up and your problem will be resolved.  However, if you are still experiencing problems you may need to take it a step or two further.  Depending on the problem you’re having, there are a few things you can do.  Checking all your cables to ensure that they have not come loose for whatever reason, can be useful.  Also, if you are having trouble connecting to the internet, you may try re-booting your modem, i.e. unplug all cables including the power code, wait a few minutes, then re-connect all the cables and re-start the modem.
Assuming that these suggestions have still not resolved your problem, you may need to contact a help desk that supports your computer.  Depending on the type of computer you have and the type of problem you are having, you can either contact the company help desk or send an email to their support group.  Most people want the quickest response they can get; unfortunately, this isn’t always the way it works out.  Help desks can often be a long wait and they may even charge you for their time.  No to mention, they may not even be able to help you.  If you have purchased a service contract, this may be your best bet.
Having your computer serviced on a regular basis can be helpful especially if you’re not that familiar with how to check it out yourself.  This can help to avoid unexpected and unwanted problems.  For example, something as simple as dust getting into the hard drive can cause serious damage over time and cause your computer not to work properly.  Also, if you are getting to the point of your maximum memory usage, you can risk losing important data.  Therefore, to avoid running into problems, it is best to have your computer maintained or sent in for service, just like your car, before you run into issues.
A computer can be the best thing ever or your worst nightmare depending on how you take care of it.  Being able to address simple issues yourself can save you a lot of time and money.  Properly maintaining your computer can save you the frustration of losing important data.
