Birthdays are always a time of celebration, joy and the turning over of another year.  Usually, many people come together to celebrate birthdays with maybe a small, intimate birthday party or an elaborate party complete with a large group of friends and family.  Birthdays are definitely a special day for people to feel that the day is all about them. 

There are so many wonderful ways to celebrate birthdays.  Birthday decorations are always necessary to ensure the perfect celebratory feel.  Streamers and balloons are perfect decorations along with banners or confetti.   Birthdays are just not complete without some sort of birthday cake.  There are so many festive cakes available to buy or to make homemade.  Some people may even enjoy cupcakes or a pie instead of a true birthday cake.  It’s always fun to watch a person’s face light up when “Happy Birthday” is sung and all eyes are on them.  It is wonderful how many themes are offered for birthdays, especially for children.  Kids are often so excited to have their favorite singer, like Hannah Montana, or cartoon characters represented on plates, napkins, party favors, or a piñata.  Many events also exist that assure a memorable birthday for children such as a petting zoo, jump houses, bowling, or having a real character arrive at the party such as Barney the Dinosaur.

Birthday gifts are a crucial part of birthday celebrations.  There are so many wonderful gifts to choose from based on a person’s age.  Children love receiving gifts on their birthday such as Barbie dolls, a new video game, or a CD from the best new artist.  Birthday gifts do not have to be large to mean something special.  Even a simple gift card or money will show a person that they are thought of on their birthday.  Along with birthday gifts, birthday cards are a great way to show remembrance of someone’s special day.  There are millions of birthday cards to choose from such as serious or sentimental cards, humorous cards, cards for children, sisters, brothers, moms, dads, and other family members, milestone birthday cards, and musical cards.  Cards allow people to laugh out loud at humorous music or words, or cry with appreciation or joy at a sentimental, loving, and inspirational card.

Birthday poems are also very special to anyone celebrating a birthday, and they can be very personal and emotional or lively and humorous.  Many times, a mother may write a loving birthday poem to her daughter, or maybe a sister to a sister, or a husband to a wife.  The importance of birthday poems is that their message is sincere and truly comes from the heart. 

There are also numerous famous birthdays that are often celebrated throughout the world.  Christmas, or the birthday of Jesus, is obviously a large birthday celebration throughout many countries. 

Birthdays can be celebrated in so many ways with many different personal traditions, but they always ensure a memorable passing of another year.
