Art galleries provide the ideal setting in which an artist can exhibit art such as paintings, photography and sculptures to a wide range of people from art lovers to people who like to buy pieces of art for personnel enjoyment. Art galleries throughout the world will include a wide variety of different forms or styles of art many of which will include traditional fine art and contemporary styles, art prints, glass art and even art that involves animation. For example, the Musee Du Louvre in Paris is one of the most visited art galleries and museums in all of France and people travel from all over the world to get a glimpse of some of the world’s most famous pieces of art that stored in The Louvre. Some of these works of art include Leonardo da Vinci’s The Virgin on The Rock and probably the world’s most famous painting, The Mona Lisa. Another famous art gallery is London’s National Gallery hosts an incredibly collection of some of the finest examples of Western European art. The gallery was founded in 1824 and is home to well over 2000 paintings that range from the 13th to the 18th century. The National Gallery really helps to depict art history but also ensures that it is beautifully preserved. Stored within the gallery is a version of Leonardo da Vinci’s Virgin on The Rock, as well as Michelangelo’s Manchester Madonna. All of these works can also be viewed online via the galleries website and this gives people a taste of these magnificent pieces of art in the comfort of their own home. Recent years has seen a growth in the popularity of online art galleries, particularly amongst aspiring artists as they provide them with an additional platform in which they can display their pieces of art work. Online galleries enable the artist to have more control of exhibiting their art work. Where it was once difficult or only available to a select few to get their work displayed in a gallery, how virtually any artist can setup up their own gallery online.
