Giving a party is a great way to socialize with friends, family or business. Parties can be a few guests to hundreds. There are two things to consider when entertaining besides the food and the number of guests. One is the party idea or theme and the other is supplies. Everyone knows there are many different kinds of parties to have but no matter what kind you have whether for children or adults you need a good idea and plenty of supplies.Today we have many things available to give us ideas for a party.  There are party stores, magazines, books, TV shows, internet, party planners, and just our own imagination. Once you decide on the type of party you are having the planning can start. Here are some basic things most parties should include.  Obviously a menu but the menu should include appetizers, beverages, a couple of main dishes, several side dishes, bread, food for children if they are included and desserts. You will need invitations, shopping list, rental company in case you need dishes, chairs, tables, tent, and servers if it is a large party and finally a checklist so you don't leave anything out.

 

When you entertain there are other things you can do to make the party more fun. First you need to set the stage for the party. You can do this by using ready made decorations, flowers, candles, colored bulbs, Christmas lights, or have a slide show. Pick as many or little of these ideas as you want. The next thing you need to include is music. The music can come from CDs, disc jockey or even a live band. You could also have entertainers like a magician, belly dancer, fortune teller, drama group, musician, or a singer. Sometimes playing games, doing crafts, or singing (Christmas caroling) can make a party more fun.  The age of your guests will help you decide on the food and entertainment. There are so many ideas.

 

So when you have your next party, these ideas should help make it easier. It all depends on the age of the guests, type of entertaining, whether business or pleasure, where the party will be, do it your self or hire a party planner. Every party no matter what the size needs a good idea and plenty of supplies. Parties should be a time to laugh, flirt a little, catch up with friends and family you haven't seen in a while, have an important business meeting or celebration, play some games, enjoy the music and food. As the host or hostess you should greet your guests when they arrive, circulate and mingle. Make sure there is plenty of food and drinks available, keep the music going, stay alert and have one planned activity. It could be to sing Happy Birthday, or make a toast, welcome your guests or thank them for coming.  That's why you did all the planning ahead, so enjoy yourself too and your guest will never forget your party and hope they are on the list for your next one.
