Parenting is a continuous growing process along with your children. There is no set proper way to parent children that will automatically be successful; each parenting strategy depends on many factors. Each child is very different and each family is greatly different as well. A strategy used to discipline one child may be significantly different for disciplining another child. There are some general parenting rules that are necessary to ensure that children grow up in a safe and healthy environment.

Initially there needs to be designated rules understood and established. Not only do the children need to be aware of what is expected of them, the parents need to have an understanding of what is expected of their children and what are consequences for not following those rules. Before the rules are introduced to the children, parents need to have the rules set up first designed together to ensure a clear way to enforce the rules as well.
Respect is a quality general parenting rule to enforce at a very young age. Not only respect for your parents and your family but also for others you encounter and for other’s things. This teaching of respect is often best taught through example. As an adult, children look up to you as an example and they strive to be like you and do as you do. The responsibility as a parent is to set a positive example as a role model.

When questions arise in parenting, look to positive parenting influences you have experiences in your own life and ask them for assistance. Use other parents as a resource to assist through challenging parenting times. Other parental resources include magazines and books. There are many different opinions and theories on the best way to raise children. It is not necessary to take only one theory or suggestion and base all parental decisions only on that idea. Put together a collection of positive parenting guides and create your own customized parental style. There are a large group of theories that may work and attempting to find your own theory is best for your individual family.

Parental articles are a positive way to hear others opinions and ideas and evaluate new parental tips. Borrowing others successful parental tips are a great way to find what will work for your family. There is always a new parental challenge awaiting a parent no matter what stage of parenting you are in. From choosing a good school, to planning your youngest child’s wedding, there are multiple parental challenges that will be faced over time. Confide in those that are close to you and communicate the stresses encounter and take each day at a time. Each parental struggle will be transformed and can be turned around to a success with the right attitude and the right attack at the problem. Address each problem for what it is. When behavioral issues occur attack the behavior and not the child to help get through the disciplinary action. Make sure the children are aware what is expected of them and what consequences will arise once the rules are broken.
