Searching for the right career can be both frustrating and rewarding.  There are several ways to search for a career.  The internet provides a variety of job search options such as CareerBuilder.com, Monster.com, and TheLadders.com.  There are also career fairs that are hosted by prospective employers.  Whichever method you choose to look for a career, it is important to consider your job interests, the level of education needed to obtain the career, and the continued growth opportunities within your place of employment.

Career interests will vary from person to person and can depend upon the current need for employment.  For example, a teenager looking for his or her first job is more likely looking for part time employment in an entry level position in a seasonal job.  A college student may be looking for employment that will enhance their ability to obtain a job in their specific area of study.  An experienced professional may be looking to change careers or positions because of company restructuring or economic conditions.  Regardless of the job interest, people looking for the right career need to have the necessary skills and education required to make them a productive employee.
 
Job training is generally provided by the employer.  Prior to entering an interview for a job, you should have a good understanding of what the company’s purpose is.  By understanding the company’s purpose, you will be able to better understand what is expected of their employees and the goals of the company.  For example, if you are looking for a career as a fire fighter, you will want to look for job opportunities in water safety, security, or public service.  The experience you gain in entry level positions will give you a valuable edge in discovering your passion for the career and your willingness for further your knowledge in the field.
 
Education is important part of building a career.  Career education can take place on many levels.  There is vocational career training which is specific to a certain job or skill.  There is also a variety of certifications for certain careers.  Examples of these are certified nursing assistant and paraprofessional teaching assistants.  Community colleges can offer two year degrees that can lead to several careers including dental assistants and radiation technician.  A four year degree from a university can open doors to executive careers in specific careers.  Career education should be an ongoing process that continues to help you grow in whatever job you choose.
 
An good employer will value its employees and want to see them grow within their career in the company.  Many employers offer continuing education and professional development opportunities within their company.  Some companies will provide tuition assistance to employees who want to further their career skills within the company.  Other companies will bring in outside sources to train their employees to improve themselves within their current careers.  Regardless of the career you choose, continue to put yourself in a position of growing your own interests and continuing your own education in order to give yourself the most opportunity for advancement in your career.
